salam everyone! hopefully all are in good health and are happy with the loved ones. hehe. even though it has been a month ago, i still wanted to upload some of the pictures that my brothers had captured during the reception at my husband's place. by the way,i'm still waiting for my photographers to send me the pictures! he is so busy lately because her wife had just delivered a lovely baby girl.. congratulations azam! cpt2 ya wat gambar kita! hehe

Solemnization : Akad Nikah : Unedited 13th March 2009

The akad nikah ceremony between my father, the kadhi and my husband went well that night. sharp 21:53. i am officially his wife. a wife to mr. khairul. :) a small sum of money called the mas kahwin seals the contract. the akad was articulated clearly once by my dearly husband and are heard by all the witnesses.

Kadhi: I marry thee to nur diyana binti ******* with the mas kahwin of rm501.00

Groom: I accept this marriage with nur diyana binti ****** with the mas kahwin rm501.00

the simplicity of this ritual belies the tremendous responsibilities of my husband to care for me, and this is reinforced in a brief lecture on marriage and its responsibilities delivered later by the kadhi. it was too long but very meaningful for us.. my husband is also reminded that should he fail to provide both spiritual and physical sustenance for me, the marriage may be dissolved if a complaint is made to the Syariat Court. hehe. insya Allah i wont do that... may God bless our marriage.

straight after the event, we went back to my house to have dinner. Rings and gifts are then exchanged in the bridal chamber. he also kissed my forehead.. bahagianya.... :))

Day One Reception : Unedited 14th March 2009

all my guests are invited to partake a meal on that saturday afternoon. talking about the food, it is prepared based on gotong-royong or cooperation among neighbors and relatives, for which the Malays are most well known for. foods like nasi briyani gam, kambing, and ayam golek are mostly imported from batu pahat, johore cooked by my father's relatives. apart from that, all guests are also presented with a bunga telur each. literally, this means 'flower and egg' and the egg actually symbolizes a fertile union and the hope that the marriage will produce many children. hehehe insya-Allah. well, the feast went noisy and was a lively affair. just like what i always wanted. a troup of people beating the kompang, groom flanked by bunga manggar, a busload of relatives and friends....nice. next is the menepung tawar session where our relatives sprinkled petals and rice as a fertility symbols on us, seated on the throne.. :)
